About Lynne Gillan
My work is a reflection on the dynamic nature of color and the compelling mystery it holds.
The visceral response I have to color drives me to create lyrical vignettes of intersecting planes, creating a moment to invite wonder, and feel color relationships in a reimagined way.
There is a rhythm that happens when I begin to assemble my paintings. My process starts with a multitude of wooden shims that I paint individually with molten wax pigment (encaustic). As I play and build, stacking and layering the painted shims, I sense an undercurrent moving, a logic that is organizing my thoughts into a syncopated composition of color and form.
